In Vancouver, summer takes its time showing up. You wait through months of rain and then one day it just stays, warm enough to eat outside, light until nine, no reason to rush home.
A lot of my best memories from those summers are pretty simple. Sitting with friends, drinks on the table, talking about nothing and everything.
Each piece is a drink that meant something.
Manhattan - I painted this one thinking about that feeling of finally sitting down with someone and having nowhere else to be.
Lemon Drop - I was thinking of a specific afternoon when I painted this, a patio, a friend I hadn't seen since winter, both of us relieved it was finally sunny enough to stay outside.
Classic Martini - End of a long week, good company, no plans after this.
Espresso Martini - This one's about staying too late because the conversation was too good to cut short. We've all been there.
Dirty Martini - A very specific drink for people who know what they like.
